How to Care for Your Vinyl Banners
Published on October 28, 2023
While vinyl banners can practically take on anything, they need some pampering and TLC every now and then. Who doesn't? Dive in to learn how a little care can ensure your banner remains in the spotlight, rain or shine.
Choosing the Right Display Location
Let's be honest, placing your vinyl banner is kind of like placing a delicate cake in a room full of toddlers – you've got to be strategic.
- Avoid direct/intense sunlight: Think of sunlight as an overly aggressive tan that ages your banner prematurely. Unless you want your banner looking like it’s aged 50 years overnight, steer clear of Mr. Sun.
- Avoid/prepare against extreme wind: This isn’t the time for your banner to learn how to fly. Secure it well, or your banner might end up in a different county, sending your message to unintended recipients. You can add wind slits to help with wind gusts or use mesh banners instead.
- Keep away from sharp objects or edges. Your banner isn’t participating in an episode of 'Survivor.' Vinyl banners are hardy and heavy-duty, but we don’t recommend testing their survival skills against sharp objects.
Regular Banner Maintenance
Imagine treating your banner like you would a beloved pet – minus the treats and occasional cuddles.
Cleaning steps:
- Gentle is the name of the game. Use mild soap and lukewarm water. None of that aggressive scrubbing action since it can damage the print.
- Use a soft cloth or sponge. Scrubbing with rough materials is a no-go.
- Rinse thoroughly. Nobody likes soapy residue.
- Let it air dry. Using a blow dryer might seem tempting but remember: banners don’t enjoy hot air as much as some people do!
Proper Banner Handling Like a Pro
- How to roll: When rolling vinyl banners, make sure to start from the printed side in. Why? So the face of your beloved banner doesn’t get wrinkled like your laundry. Roll it tightly but lovingly, like a sushi chef rolls sushi.
- Why you shouldn't fold: Folding is for origami, laundry, and poker, not banners. Unless you want unintentional creases that look like bad Botox jobs, avoid folding.
Vinyl Banner Storage Tips
Your banner deserves a rest after all the hard work of displaying your message to the world. Give it the luxury spa retreat it dreams of.
- Always store your vinyl banners in a cool, dry place. Avoid placing them in sweltering oven-like conditions.
- Use a protective tube or container. This is the banner equivalent of a five-star hotel. Give it the royal treatment it deserves.
- Avoid stacking heavy items on top. Would you like a pile of bricks on your chest? Didn't think so. Your banner feels the same way. Stacking heavy items also tends to leave dents and creases that are hard to remove.
- Refrain from storing in places with high humidity to prevent mold growth. Unless you're aiming for a new green and fuzzy design on your banner, keep the humidity away. Make sure your storage isn’t moist or damp. Proper ventilation is key.
So, while our trusty vinyl banners might be the superheroes of the advertising realm, even they appreciate a spa day from time to time. After all, who can resist some extra attention? With the right care, your banner won't just survive – it'll thrive, making a splash whatever the weather.
